  Eritrean nationals residing in Australia and New Zealand reiterated their readiness to stand alongside their government and people in realizing development goals and rebuffing all external hostilities and ploys. In the seminar conducted in Melbourne city in connection with the 10th Eritrea Festival underway in Australia and New Zealand, the Eritrean ambassador, Mr. Andeab Gebremeskel briefed participants regarding the objective situation in the Homeland.

قال مسؤول في حزب «الحركة الشعبية - التغيير الديمقراطي»، الذي يقوده وزير الخارجية السابق الدكتور لام أكول بعد انشقاقه عن الحركة الشعبية الحاكمة في الجنوب وشريك الحكم في الشمال، إن مسلحين مجهولين هاجموا منزل الدكتور لام أكول واشتبكوا مع طاقم الحراسة في المنزل، قبل أن يلوذوا بالفرار، فيما لم تقع إصابات أو أضرار مادية. وأصدر الحزب بيانا لاحقا حول تفاصيل الحادثة بعد أن أكد وقوعه. وقللت مصادر في الشرطة تحدثت لـ«الشرق الأوسط» من الحادثة، واعتبرها من جهات تسعى إلى إظهار أن الأوضاع في الخرطوم بأنها غير آمنة، وللتشويش على الانتخابات.
