At the thematic debate on Maternal, Infant and Child Health and Development in Africa Fifteenth Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly 25‐27 July 2010 Kampala, Uganda


Mr. Chairman, Your Excellencies Heads of State and Government, Your Excellencies Heads of Delegation, Ladies and Gentlemen,

On behalf of President Isaias Afwerki and the Government and people of Eritrea, let me express our thanks to our gracious hosts, the Government and people of Uganda, and also our heartfelt condolences to them for the horrendous attacks in Kampala, which claimed the lives of tens of innocent Ugandans and other nationals, including several Eritreans.

عاد فخامة الرئيس أفورقى الى البلاد السبت الماضى بعد مشاركته الدورة الثانية عشر لمجلس رآسة تجمع س- ص.  وأوضح فخامته لوكالة الأنباء الاريترية " إرينا "  بالقول :  ان الاجتماع  الدورى الثانى عشر لمجلس رآسة تجمع الساحل والصحراء الذى انعقد فى العاصمة التشادية انجمينا  يومى الثانى والعشرين والثالث واعشرين من يوليو ،  توصل الى إتفاق على إجراء إصلاحات  فى الاتحاد  الأفريقى ليعمل على تلبية رغبات شعوب القارة  لكون مشاكله تتمثل فى الهيكل والأهداف والبرامج

اختتم يوم أمس الجمعة القمة الثانية عشر لمجلس رئاسة دول " الساحل والصحراء " في العاصمة التشادية نجامينا. واعتمد رؤوساء دول " الساحل والصحراء " جملة قرارات وتوصيات منها توجيه دعوة إلى المجتمع الدولي لكي يضغط على الحكومة الأثيوبية بحيث تطبق قرار مفوضية ترسيم الحدود بين دولة اريتريا وإثيوبيا. وجاء في البيان الختامي
على " المجتمع الدولي وخاصة منظمة الأمم المتحدة والاتحاد الأفريقي الاستمرار في اتخاذ الإجراءات وممارسة الضغوط الدبلوماسية من اجل تنفيذ أثيوبيا القرار الصادر بتاريخ 13 ابريل 2002 عن مفوضية ترسيم الحدود من دون تأخير" وجددت قمة دول الساحل والصحراء إدانتها لقرار مجلس الأمن رقم 1907 والذي بموجبه فرض عقوبات جائرة وغير عادلة وغير قانونية وبصورة تعسفية على اريتريا ، وذلك على خلفية تهم نسجت من العدم تحقيقا لأجندة خبيثة.

Asmara, 24 July 2010 - President Isaias Afwerki said that the Assembly of CEN-SAD Heads of State and Government has reached agreement that the organization should serve as the pillar for reactivating the African Union (AU) in terms of structure, objectives and programs so that it may serve the aspirations of the peoples of the continent. The agreement was reached at the 12th CEN-SAD Summit in N’Djamena, Chad, taking into account the visible weakness of the AU in the aforementioned spheres.
