Asmara, 5 September 2010 - President Isaias Afwerki in the afternoon hours today received and held talks with the special representative of the U.N Secretary General in the Somali case, Ambassador Augustini Mahiga.

In the meeting held at Denden Hall, President Isaias pointed out that the UN has a higher responsibility to find a peaceful solution for the Somali issue and expressed Eritrea's full support for the initiatives being taken by the world body. He went on to point out Eritrea's readiness to work together with the Special Representative.

Asmara, 4 August 2010 - The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mr. Ahmed Haj Ali, participated in the Mining Investors Conference that was held in the Australian  city of Perth from September 1 to 3.

In the conference in which a number of heads of mining companies, banks and financial institutions, as well as investors, mining consultants and media outlets from different parts of the world took part, Mr. Ahmed indicated that the development registered in the Eritrean mining sector within a few years is being the main attraction of tourists.

Asmara, 2 September 2010 – The putting in place of various infrastructure facilities in the Eritrean Red Sea coast is creating conducive ground for investors, stated Mr. Gebremedhin Habte, director general of marine transport in the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

Asmara, 30 August 2010 - President Isaias Afwerki today received and held talks at the Denden Hall with the UN Under Secretary General for Political Affairs, Mr. B. Lyn Pasco.
In the meeting, the President noted that the United Nations has major responsibility to bring about peace and stability in the Horn of Africa, and gave extensive briefings on Eritrea’s views as regards issues in the Horn region in general and Sudan, as well as Somalia in particular.

Eritrean Soccer Team Through to CECAFA Cup Finals
Asmara, 25 August 2010 - The Eritrean soccer team has beaten its Rwandan counterpart 1-0 in the CECAFA Cup under 20, thus advancing to the finals.The national team scored a penalty kick in the second half of the match that took place today at the Asmara Stadium.
